Hi, this is Jesse
As a youth ministry staff, we want to equip you as best as possible. Because your role is crucial to the life of the Church. Your role often is the deciding mark of whether a local church is succeeding or failing in making disciples. You have volunteered to take on the commission of Jesus—to make disciples of young students and teach them everything he has commanded. It’s not easy. So we want to equip you by providing resources and creating opportunities for us all to grow together in dialogue.
This is something I take very seriously. As a volunteer leader, I was hungry for ways to grow my toolkit in leading students. My experiences as a volunteer leader eventually led me to get a Master of Ministry and a Master of Theological Studies, all so I could better equip the church to do youth ministry. This doesn’t mean I have all the answers. My job is to consult resources and try and point you in the right direction. You do a lot for your students, so we want to provide something edifying for you. And so between the three of us (Tim, Brooke, and myself), if there are ever ways you want to grow in your walk with Jesus, we want to help you in that.
“Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”
Ephesians 4:11-13
This marks the first leader training we’re trying out. You have a lot on your plate. So we’re going to give you bite-sized, 5-minute podcasts on important topics for our development as leaders. So while you’re doing laundry or driving to youth group, take 5 minutes to listen. Then let us know what you think or other topics you’d like to hear about. Our next podcast will be on one of the most important topics in our role: facilitating small group discussions.
Thank you for your time and attention.
